Arts for Los Angeles kids.
Arts and your child
Parents
At LAUSD, we believe that every student should have the chance to understand and appreciate visual and performing arts, for the sheer enjoyment of a great play, dance, painting or song. The arts also help energize the school environment, and help kids develop critical skills for life and work.

MORE ARTS!

The Los Angeles area is rich with community arts programs that have been developed especially for the classroom. MORE ARTS! is an resource guide compiled by Arts Education to make it easy for District teachers and administrators to review community arts programs for their content, grade level relevance, costs and contact information.

BUDGET PLANNING (ARTS), SCHOOL ASSISTANCE DOCUMENT

Assistance for schools: Budget planning is now taking place for Fiscal Year 2009-2010 and your school will need to access its own funding sources to support your arts teachers, arts instruction and arts programming. Commencing July 7, 2009, centrally allocated accounts designated for the visual and performing arts will no longer be available. Teachers, generalist and specialist, will need to work with principals and school site councils to determine the arts instructional needs at each site. This will include materials, equipment, supplies, professional development, lead teacher compensation, field trips, tickets, arts textbooks and arts program contracts.
